There are two allusions happening in this painting. It first alludes to the way I have been in disbelief of my cancer situation as if witnessing it in 3rd person rather than living through it. Also, the use of mirror imaging, though slightly off, references how chemotherapy seemed to accelerate the aging process, and it was difficult to see myself differently and take note of the physical changes that were happening to my body. The realistically depicted pair of my hands shows how cellular waste would accumulate in my extremities, causing my fingers to be much darker than the rest of my skin.
